Kenneth Guthrie, C.D.T.
In 1972, Mr. Guthrie graduated from the U.S. Air Force Dental Laboratory Technology School. He continued his education Northwestern University's Dental school for Implants, studied with Dr. Pete Dawson. He also is a graduate from the Atlanta Craniomandibular Society's TMJ Framework and a graduate from Las Vegas Institute for Advance Dental Studies in Practical Occlusion.
Lab Management Today and several other publications have featured Mr. Guthrie and his work in their magazines. This added stature to his already established international reputation, and as an international lecturer, he frequently lectures and holds clinics at dental gatherings in the U.S., around the world.
He teaches numerous courses on Occlusion and Dentures with Dr. James E. Carlson, and has courses of his own on Occlusion and Dentures specifically for technicians.
He was recognized as a Charter Member 1994-1996, for participation on the Signature Editorial Board in the Art and Science of Modern Dentistry publications. The Crowning Achievement Award was given to him in recognition for outstanding contribution to Florida's Laboratory Industry in 1998.
Mr. Guthrie holds patents on several products that he has developed. The "BIO-PONTIC" marketed by Kerr is a preformed wax pattern to give the ceramist the foundation for achieving esthetically and occlusaly superior restorations. The "Shade-Connection" kit marketed by ADDS for Mr. Guthrie is a simple system used to communicate the exact color modifications needed to match the patients tooth which earned raves from the L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education. In addition, Mr. Guthrie was awarded the Harry C. Hagman, CDT Inventors' Award for the Shade-Connection by NADL.
After 32 years in the industry, he is the considered the leader in occlusal technology and has Trade Marked and developed a scientifically engineered occlusal technique called EDOT™ ( Engineered Design Occlusal Technique) built on the principles of "The Four Pillars of Occlusion" developed by Dr. James E. Carlson. EDOT™ enables the technician to create a level and functional plane of occlusion, custom made for each patient.
As a Christian, Mr. Guthrie firmly believes in integrity and excellence in life. He practices those beliefs daily in his business as will as in his personal life. Kenneth and his wife, Sarah has four children; Michael, Crystal, Christopher, and Kenneth, Jr. and to grandchildren Tyler and Kyleigh.
